These photographs are from our visit to the Annahrais Bidayuh Longhouse, about an hour away from Kuching, Sarawak. This is home to about 70 Bidayuh families. The Bidayuh, like the Iban were head hunters until the mid 20th century. The entire longhouse structure sits on stilts and is about 2 meters above ground. If you are ever invited to smoke a pipe, please take it very slowly. I almost chocked myself - the tobacco and whatever else in it is very potent!
